Enable scalable and on-demand environments .
Challenge
The main purpose of moving to Kubernetes was to enable scalable, on-demand environments. Initially, customer faced numerous single-tenant installations, each set up for individual projects, including staging environments. As the development environment evolved, the goal shifted to providing each tester with an on-demand environment.

However, with the expansion to about 10 teams, customer consolidated to one environment per team. The transition to a microservice architecture increased the number of microservices that needed orchestration, requiring solutions for automatic disaster recovery and service discovery.

The migration coincided with a significant growth in the number of teams and microservices, necessitating frequent adjustments to evolving requirements.

Solution and delivered value

NATLEX executed a comprehensive migration to Kubernetes over 1.5 years, culminating in a ready solution in the cloud with production instances. The process began with establishing CI/CD pipelines and revising development processes.

Applications were adapted for cloud compatibility by developers, ensuring seamless integration. The final migration included transferring product installations with data, despite ongoing requirement changes and active development.

This migration provided scalable, on-demand environments, orchestrated microservices, automatic disaster recovery, and service discovery, supporting the dynamic needs of our growing teams and improving overall efficiency and resilience
